No Mt Wellington Cable Car Please
Update:
Mr Bold from the MWCC has contacted me regarding my objections to the Cable Car proposal and had offered to meet with me to discuss the matter. As he has challenged my views and criticed my desire for critical analysis.
I am in the process of compiling a detailed analysis of MWCC statements on their webpage and statements made on my Facebook Page.
you can read an update below:
email to MWCC dated Oct 14, 2018 with a list of questions on the MWCC project and requesting the release of information to the public via their webpage.
I will post response and other follow up here as they arrive.
The lack of transparecny in the process of the MWCC is additional argument which undermines the credibility of the information provided by MWCC.
As a scientist I am also missing crucial information about the data used and in the financial report crucial information for assessing the economics of the proposed project are blackened out.

My views to oppose the current proposed development have strengthened.
My main arguments are:
- the scale of the development is too large and in an area that is untouched wilderness (e.g. outside of the currently used part of the mountain.
- opposite to the claim of the MWCC the tower for the cable car will be visible and is massive in nature
- there is very little to no benefit to the local community, or at least there is not enough information shared that would indicate otherwise.
- I also can understand the sentiment about the cables in front of the organ pipes. It could be compared with a hair in front of your face - its annoying.
- In my view the MWCC project is not a project of state significance and all decision should be made by the Hobart City Council.
Others on Mt Wellington Accessibility
I personally would like to see some improvements to the accessibility of Mt Wellington especially for families in winter.
Any such development should be done as a community project and I would like to see the Springs as an already existing hub for discovering the mountain included.
We will have to see how the new bus system up Mt Wellington will be used. The cost of $35 for a round trip is a little bit on the expensive side.
