I am a Glaciologist, Outdoor Enthusiast, Guide, Coach, Educator, Carpenter, Renovator, Photographer, Artist and Adventurer.
I am currently on parental leave - taking care and enjoying time with my son.
I am also currently studying psychology and law.
Born in Germany I have lived in Europe, the United States, Australia and Antarctica. My work has allowed me to travel to and work on all seven continents.
From the northern slopes of Alaska and Scandinavia, via the Tropics of Africa, South America and Asia to the far South of Patagonia, Tasmania and the Antarctic, I enjoyed meeting new people and taking in new experiences, always striving to contribute to the community I live in.
I am now based in Hobart, Tasmania, and very much enjoy the natural environment, the great food and fresh air this Island in the South of Australia has to offer. One thing in particular which excites me about Hobart is the accessibly to the wilderness areas and at the same time living in a high quality urban environment with huge choice in the high quality cultural activities. There is MONA, the Tasmania Symphony Orchestra and the variety of music, theater and festivals. Not to forget the Taste of Tasmania, the Sydney to Hobart Yacht race, Cygnet Folk Festival, MOFO & Dark MOFO to name a few events.
Aside from science and an active stimulating lifestyle, my interests are manifold including health and mental health care, education, economics, sustainability, communication, coaching and leadership.
I am also a carpenter and have many technical skills which I have used to develop innovative research instrumentation.
